South Asian Football League (SAFL) – 5 Underrated Players in the SAFL – Who Needs More Shine?

When you think of the best players in the SAFL you usually think of guys like Richie, Nafi, Amneet and a few in between. But the discussion this week in our chat has really been around players who don’t get that much love week in and week out. So us here at the SAFL bras decided to out our heads together and call out some players we think deserve more shine. Who do you think got left out on our list? Sound off! (After reading this of course )

  1. Miguel Chavez – Bandits

The Bandits have had a season to forget. Despite their first gutsy win against the Elites in the rain they still sit towards the bottom of the barrel. One bright spot in the season however has been the return of Miguel who started his SAFL career with the Thunder. With 5 touchdowns to his credit Miguel has been on a tear, wreaking havoc on most defenses he’s come across. The problem is, you never hear his name! He’s tall, he’s shifty, and he’s quiet. A recipe for disaster for any defense. If the Bandits want to make a run in the playoffs they need to use him and use him well. This guy is a beast!

  1. Phil McFarlane – AK47

Naturally when you play AK you’re worried about Richie, Amneet, Sims, Harpal etc. And that’s when he gets you. Phil is usually making the big play when it matters for AK and has been under the radar for a long time now. But that time is no more! We want to bring into the light just how good he is. He caught the winning touchdown against the Browns during the regular season matchup between these two behemoths. Keep an eye on this guy next time you cross paths, he might just burn you.

  1. Curt “Hit the Dirt” Foerschner – Thunder

The Thunder haven’t had much to celebrate this year. Another year of sleeping with the fishes as this team struggles to climb from the depths of the SAFL. One bright spot has been Curtis who has really rounded into a quality receiver in his second year. He leads the Thunder in receptions and may just lead the league in dirt stains. It feels like every week this guy is diving or flying towards a play and has the battlemarks to show for it. Keep an eye in the sky and the ground for this Thunder player moving forward.

  1. PJ Suri – Savages

This league is full of great recievers. But if you’re looking for a quality tight end look no further than PJ.Anwar’s trusty safety valve has had a season making catch after catch after catch. With starts like Joey, Hashim and Lutalo taking attention from the defense PJ has had an easy time making big and timely plays for the first place Savages. Don’t let him out of your sight because he might just burn you.

  1. Rameez Khatri – Underdogs

He looks like your best friend in math class. And then he scores on you. Possibly the deadliest combination of an unassuming look and quality hands in the SAFL, Rameez will catch a touchdown on you and then apologize for doing so. Most players worry about Rob and Emanuel when playing the Underdogs but Rameez has done enough damage to warrant some attention form defenses moving forward.

Honorable Mention: Harpal

The stats will tell you he is not someone who is overlooked but there are plenty of players in this league who don’t fine Harpal’s antics that amusing. Love him or hate him he has been killing it for a long time and it’s time for those HATERS to admit it. Yes… I’m talking to you!
