Week 4 Predictions

6Gators (1-1) vs. AK (1-1) – 8:30am

A big way to start week 4 with two top teams looking to get past .500 after tough losses against very good teams recently.  The Gators are coming off a loss against their rivals Primetime so they will be looking to take out their frustration on AK this week.  AK just came off an easy victory against the Knights, where they were the sportsmen of the week and helped their opponents out in the second half of the game.  Kudos to those guys for that.  Less about the power points, more about comradery, Always want guys like that involved in this league.  Now back to this matchup.  We have two top contending teams who could easily be facing off against one another in the finals this year, but who will get to 2-1 and who will fall to a deceiving 1-2.  Only time will tell.

IF Gators want to prove they are still the team to beat, they are going to have to win this week against a tough AK.

IF AK wants to stay atop the leaderboard, they will have to do it this week against the defending champs coming off a tough loss.

Prediction:

Gators (-1): 27

AK (+1):: 25

Gators win & Cover

Primetime (3-0) vs. Browns (3-0) – 10:00am

Well, can’t see how the SAFL head honchos don’t make this the game of the week.  You will have two undefeated teams fighting for headspace at the top of the leaderboards.  They are currently standing in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.  This is also a big game because from what I hear H2H matchup is the 1st tiebreaker after standings so this game could very well mean a lot come the end of the season.  The Browns are currently putting up the most points in the league, but Primetime is not too far behind putting up the third most.  We are also looking at the strength of schedule and to this point, the Browns have had an easier start to the year.  This game will prove to me who the 1st place and top team in this league are right now.

IF the Browns offense is the real deal, they will need to prove it this week against a very athletic secondary.

IF Primetime wants to be considered the best team in the league, they will have to beat what I think is currently the best team in the league.

I currently can’t bet against the experience the Browns leadership has in a close game like this, I think they come out on top in a very close, highly competitive high scoring game.

Predictions:

Browns (-3): 48

P.T. (+3): 42

Browns win & Cover!

Savages (3-0) vs. The Elites (0-3) –  11:30am

Can we say “Puffs Ultra Soft” because that’s what the Savages schedule has been so far this year.  All I know is I would love to use the SAFL schedule-makers to create my work schedule, I’d be on vacation 5 days a week!  Ok well now going back to this matchup.  We are seeing an undefeated team going against an Elites team that is still trying to put pieces together.  The Savages have already done that, but we really don’t know how good they are just yet, and we will have to wait until next week when they face the Browns before we figure that out.

IF the Savages want to prove they are a dominant team, this will have to be another landslide victory.

IF The Elites want to prove they are a pretty good team, they could start doing that by beating this untested savages team.

Prediction:

Savages (-17): 38

The Elites (+17): 13

Savages win & Cover!

Studio Gangsters (0-3) vs Suicide Squad (0-1) – 1pm

This is an exciting game for a few reasons.  We have two young teams that are looking to build some momentum and this is the week either one of them can do it.  They are both looking for their first win of the season and have no problems smashing the other to the bottom of the standings if they have to (what a cutthroat sport this is!).  Suicide Squad showed their faces for the first time against the top team in the league Savages.  Though the score ended up being quite lopsided, there were some bright spots throughout the game with a QB that can throw the long ball, and some speedy and reliable receivers around, it seems they may just need to learn how to play in this league.  The Studio Gangsters had the luxury to face the juggernaut Browns who had no mercy on them and just manhandled them from pillar to post.  If I know anything about these Gangsters is that they are pissed off and looking to take that loss out on this new team.  I’m very curious to see how this turns out.

IF Studio Gangsters don’t want to be the bottom dwellers in the standings, this will be their chance to get that bad taste out of their mouths from last week’s loss.

IF Suicide Squad is a decent team, they will have to show it this week, and I’m not sure they will.  In this league, you need more than one week to get acclimated.  Prove me wrong!

Prediction:

Studio Gangsters (-2) – 26

Suicide Squad (+2) – 24

Suicide Squad loses but Covers!

Knights (0-3) vs CK (2-1) – 2:30pm

The last game of the day has the reeling Knights vs. the surging Cobra Kai.  The Knights had a tough game last week against an AK team that came to play.  The Knights are trying to climb out of this hole they are currently in and try and somehow get out of last place, but I don’t think this will be the week they do it.  Cobra Kai came back from a week 2 loss and beat the Elites in convincing fashion.  We know their offense is solid, but to only give up 7 points is unlike them, surprising (in one of those good ways).  I still don’t know why they couldn’t pitch a shutout but maybe that’s just me asking for too much.  This week they actually have a chance to do that against a Knights team that is struggling all the way around.  I hope that with this week 6 roster deadline they are continuously working on bringing in some guys to help lift them up.  All it takes is a couple of studs and teams can turn right around, let’s see if the Knights have some good contacts.

IF the Knights want to see some light at the end of the tunnel they need to at least make this game a fairly close game, maybe not win, but just show that they could hang.

IF Cobra Kai wants to be spoken about as a top team, this is a must-win since they have the defending champs on the horizon.

Prediction:

Knights (+21 ½) – 13

Cobra Kai (-21 1/2 ) – 48
