Predicitons – Week 5 Part 2

AK vs Bandits

So AK has been running through every single team they’ve come across..well at least when Sims is there. AK is leading the league in points scored putting up an unbelievable 194 points. Most teams mark off their calendars when they play AK. They usually give their teammates this pep talk a week before the game ” don’t worry guys, whatever happens, happens.” Translation: we are gonna get our butts kicked and there is nothing we can do about it. So put on your best faces and just take the whopping. In all seriousness, we are being serious. AK has 5 guys who each have 10 or more catches, multiple TDs by multiple people, so we know they spread the ball around and their defense ain’t too shabby neither. They are at the bottom when it comes to giving up points (one stat you want to be the bottom of). The haters will always hate but AK is the real deal and we expect them to keep the freight train going.

The Bandits are a storied franchise who pride themselves as being “one of the original teams” in the SAFL. Well hate to break it to you guys (sorry commish, don’t fire me!) but those days are long gone and pride and respect isn’t going to go far anymore. The Bandits revamped their roster but we aren’t even sure who’s on the team and who left. It’s almost confusing. BUT, we do still hold a glimmer of hope with the Bandits. Even though they looked disheveled last week we saw a few players who stole a moment or 2. Nabeel and Obaid were great additions to the Bandits. The utilization hasn’t been great though. These 2 are potentially in the Top 5 in terms of speed. If the Bandits want to compete they are going to have to figure out how to get these 2 involved more. Bandits defense also looked sloppy. But again we ask ourselves…is it because they suck or because they haven’t really had a chance to gel yet. Only time will really tell….

Final Word:

AK, in the eyes of most, are the best team in the league. They are fast, smart and deadly accurate when it matters the most. They are an experienced team and as of right now just going through the motions of a well oiled machine which will continue on into the playoffs. In the eyes of most, AK will be in the finals this year but for now the next stop is Bandits country. Gonna be a quick stop though…

GAME OF THE WEEK

Elites vs Underdogs

The Elites are coming off an epic win and battle against Cobra Kai. They really showed that they can close out games even late. Closing is one of the most important aspects of the game and not everyone can do it. It’s definitely a confidence builder for the Elites. Aldo has been looking good so far and we expect him to continue on this path moving forward. The Elites are sitting right in the middle of the pac right now which is exactly where they want to be come playoff time. As of now, they would avoid the Top 3 so they need to hold onto that position for dear life. They have some outstanding defenders in Yusuf and Anas so we expect great things from them this week. If the Elites can get exceptional QB play out of Aldo, who hasn’t thrown a pick yet, get Kaiser and “The Squirrel” involved early on and take advantage of an Underdog QB that likes to take chances they’ll be able to rack up some more wins and that starts with the Underdogs.

When the Elites win we give them props for being able to build on their team from just 12 months ago but when they lose we don’t pick on them for that exact reason, they are still growing as a franchise. When the Underdogs lose we pick on them because our standards are just so much higher for a veteran team like them. With all the new, shiny pieces that they acquired, the league took notice and felt that they were going to be a Top 4 team. Right now, though, they are on the complete opposite place than where everyone thought they were going to be. Sure, they play a great 1st half but as stated earlier closing is the most important part. This was evident against the Browns. Down by only 2 point, 28-26, they let it slip away from them and weren’t able to put up any more points for the rest of the game. It’s concerning to say the least. This is a game that they HAVE TO WIN. If they don’t beat the Elites they are going to really have to look in the mirror and reevaluate everything. We don’t want to start calling them the Underpuppies because we know this team is just taking some bad bumps and they are mature enough to bounce back. They definitely have had a tough schedule so far but this game will really determine who they are..Are they the Underdogs or the Underpuppies? This game will tell us…

Final Word:

The Elites have a lot of momentum going into this game. They are 2-1 and want to keep adding into that win column. They look like they’ve figured it out but the Underdogs will be a true test for them. The dogs are in a do or die situation and we are thinking they will play like it…

Underdogs 35 Elites 20
