Browns vs Thunder
The Browns are going into this game with another win to add to the column. We constantly talk about how good their offense is and rightfully so! They’ve been a power house on that end of the ball putting up an impressive 183 points thus far. Another thing that we constantly talk about is how many points their defense lets up, 2nd most in the league. Is it a winning formula? For most teams, no. But for the Browns it seems that no matter how many points the defense lets up the offense just ends up pouring more and more on. For the Browns, especially against the stronger teams, its always a duel. It’s going shot for shot with their opponents. We’ve seen it already this year against the Savages and the Gators. High scoring games that come down to the wire. The Browns seem as though they strive for these moments. Let’s see if it will pay off…
Adam and co. have their plates full with the Browns this week. They have 1 win against a Cobra Kai squad that would love another shot at them. We aren’t sure exactly what’s going on here because the players are actually good. They have a few rookies on that team that should be in the conversation for Rookie of the Year. Most notably, Jesse Johnson. He’s amassed the most receptions on his team but what we notice is that he’s always making acrobatic catches downfield. You can look at it in 2 ways: 1) that he’s an incredible player who has no regard for his body and 2) he’s an incredible player that has NO REGARD FOR HIS BODY. We want to see Jesse stay healthy all season so having more involved in the short game and than him making plays will ultimately make him a more consistent player that stays on the field when hes needed most. Our one piece of advice to the Thunder in this game is to really test that defense. Send your speedy guys on short routes, get them the ball and let them make the plays. Be strategic about when you go deep and make sure that defense buckles down.
Final Word:
Browns offense is just too powerful. The only way for the Thunder to have success is to stop the Browns’ offense 3 times and score on those opportunities. If they can do that they will be able to compete. If they don’t…well…gonna be a long day. Our gut feeling is that the Browns are going to win this won.

Savages vs Cobra Kai
The Savages are coming off a BYE week with some much needed rest. They are on top of the standings sitting at 3-0. Over the course of 3 weeks they have put up over 120 points which puts them in the Top 4 offenses in the league. We like the Savages this year. They are playing with a swagger that we haven’t seen in a long time from them. They are moving and grooving this year as though they have something to prove. Decipher this “GTSAFLBTYKW” We believe their captain stated this sometime last year and this year it seems like it is coming to fruition…for now. Savages QB is on point right now throwing 17 TDs and only 1 Into. All the new pieces have settled into place and for now the Savages will have a comfortable time going into the playoffs. Our only really concern is the chatter about how the weather will have a drastic impact on the QB. For their sake, we hope it isn’t true.
Cobra Kai might be one of our favorite teams right now. We got a chance to hear from their captain, Fabio, this week on the SAFL Podcast. He has great spirit and that trickles down to his teammates. As we all know, Cobra was put together last minute and there was real concern as to how this team would pan out. First 2 weeks weren’t great but than last week we saw a glimmer of hope. They went toe to toe with the Elites and put up more points in this game than the 2 previous games combines. They’ve come a long way in a really short amount of time. We have high hopes for this team. They were able to pluck some old reciviers from an old team, LBTH. Kevin, Brian and Fayad gave them the physicality they needed and than Farzan and Baktash gave themthe experience that they needed. Combined with Fabio, Anthony and JP the students are now beginning to become the teachers ( we will quote as many Karate Kid moments as possible). Again, high hopes is what we have for this team.
Final Word
As we stated earlier, we see great things coming from Cobra Kai! They have the heart of Rudy going for them right now which could be a potential trap for the Savages especially coming off the BYE week. HOWEVER, even though the have the heart, even though they have the momentum the Savages just have too much going for them right now. Lead leading QB for TD-Int, receivers who blow everyone away and a defense that just nags at you. We got the Savages in this one….
