Division 2
SAFL D2 Predictions: October 1, 2022 | Thunder vs Long Island Titans @ 2:15 pm | Eisenhower Park
Thunder (1-2) vs Long Island Titans (3-0)
These teams played last week with the Long Island Titans pulling off a close win 19-12. The Thunder seems to be clicking right now, especially on defense and it looks like they are ready to be a factor. The Titans are 3-0 and seem to be the team right now beat in Division 2 (maybe with the Browns (2-0)). The talent is evident at receiver with Isaiah Woodard and Isaiah Taylor and these guys can win most one-on-one matchups. If both of those guys end up being guarded, Ali Traiq steps in to fill the gap. QB Soafhan Hassan is getting a lot of praise for keeping this together especially since he’s leading the division with 14 TD passes and only 3 interceptions.
The Thunder led by QB Adam Bhatti, Curtis Foerschner, and Qasim “Q” Ellis can make some noise with a win here. If the Thunder want to win they need to score more than 12 points. QB Adam must get the ball in the hands of his playmakers and make better reads downfield. If the Titans want to win, they need to force the Thunder into mistakes and use the height and speed on their roster to score points and continue to hold this team down to under 14 points. Something of concern for Thunder is that it seems they go through a different QB every week with Adam eventually returning to take the position. A consistent QB will be the key to the development of this team.
We think this will be a close one again, and although an upset is possible, we don’t see it happening just yet.
