Cobra Kai (4-1) vs. Gators (3-2)
A big rematch from Week 2 as Cobra Kai plays perhaps the hottest team right now in Division 1 in the Gators. This is a clash of the titans type of game here as both teams look to increase their winning streaks. The talent on the Gators’ roster has almost multiplied in recent weeks and this team does not look like the same team we saw in September. Cobra Kai will surely have their hands full with a hungry talented team coming for their necks.
If Cobra Kai wants to win, the defense must continue their great play keeping teams under 30 points in consecutive weeks. Something they haven’t done probably since their inaugural season. The offense must score and score some more as they are slipping a bit and need to right the ship as the league’s top offense. Cobra Kai’s QB Yash Tehrani has been having a stellar season leading Division 1 with a 70.3% completion rate along with 28 passing touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He’s been getting some strong support from his team including Cal Sartor, who is leading the division in receiving touchdowns with 14, Anthony De Palma, Joel Nassi, Antony Lewis, and Gerrel James.
If the Gators want to win, they need to utilize their fresh talent and score on what once used to be a hapless Cobra Kai defense. As with Cobra Kai, the Gators are getting superb play out of QB Dean Emma who has completed 62.3% of his passes and has thrown 21 touchdown passes on 4 interceptions. The Gators’ offense acquired Jayden and Parrish Bennet who have been racking up touchdowns this season. Tommy Legotte has also shown that he has not slowed down after 5 years in the league. In this game, the Gators need to figure out the formula for success against a newly confident Cobra Kai defensive unit. Rumors are being heard that the Gators are meticulously dissecting video footage of their last matchup with Cobra Kai. The Gators’ defense has shown some strength against Cobra Kai but it seems as if it just slows Yash and the boys down and puts them in long 3rd down situations. We’ve seen, over the last few weeks, that may be what will actually keep these guys from the end zone. The Gators for sure have the talent to do that. That’s why we like them this week.
