The Elites (0-2) vs. Cobra Kai (1-1) – 8:30am
We start the week 3 matchup with two teams coming off a loss, but that’s about where the similarities end. We have the Elite team that just faced off against the defending champs and showed they don’t belong in the conversation with the top-tier teams. CK came off a loss against PT and showed they are maybe one drive away from being spoken about as a top-tier team, but isn’t that where they’ve been for two years now? I’m not sure what’s worse, a team that knows they’re not up to the top tier level yet, or a team that thinks they are but never gets it done when it matters most? Decide amongst yourselves.
The “IF/Then” segment:
IF The Elites want to prove they could hang with some of the better teams, this would be the week to do it, against a team that tends to beat the “worse” teams but can’t against the top ones.
IF Cobra Kai wants to be taken seriously as a top-tier team, then they need to start by beating The Elites and do it in a convincing fashion. That still won’t be enough in my eyes. I’m eyeing their week 5 matchup against the Champs. Let’s see what the “gatekeepers” do then!
Score Prediction:
The Elites (+13 ½) – 20
Cobra Kai (-13 ½)- 35

Primetime (2-0) vs. Gators (1-0) – 10:00am
Now we are talking about the real elite teams! A rematch from last year’s championship game that had the Gators coming out on top against a very talented and athletic Primetime team. This season, some things have changed, with some acquisitions on both teams, we could be looking at a whole new matchup, a much closer game, or even a difference of outcome! This game is in heavy consideration for Game of the Week, but even if it isn’t, there is such a thing as “The People’s Game of the Week” and I think that’s where this game lands. We could be seeing a championship preview folks. Stay tuned.
The IF/Then Segment:
IF Primetime wants to even up the score, they almost can by winning tomorrow, it’s not a championship, but it’s a start.
IF the Gators want to maintain their number one seed, and prove they are still the team to beat, they will have to beat the new and improved Prime Time team.
The champs get the slight nod until proven otherwise.
Score Prediction:
Gators (-.5) – 42
Prime Time (+.5) – 40

Studio Gangsters (0-2) vs. Browns (2-0) – 11:30am
So can we call this the sleeper game of the week? There are rumblings that Studio Gangsters have not been at full strength, but plan to be against the unbeaten Browns. There are rumblings that the Studio Gangsters are looking to put the league on notice and use the Browns to do it! Call me old-fashioned but I’m all about some chalkboard material. I’m all about the underdog team coming out on top, and I’m all about a good Rocky story. But now let’s get real. Unless the Studio Gangsters were missing Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill these last two weeks, whoever they were missing probably won’t make that much of a difference. The Browns have reloaded and are destroying everything in their path, and they started by beating a top contending team in AK week 1 and then shut out the Knights completely in week 2. I don’t see there being much of a difference this week, but boy am I in the business of eating my words when it comes to a good underdog story.
The IF/Then Segment:
IF the Browns are as good as we think they are, and they think they are, this needs to be another one-sided victory.
IF the studio gangsters want to prove they are the true underdog story, this is their week to do it.
My heart wants to bet for the underdog, but my head says “you crazy, don’t lose your money you foo”
Score Prediction:
Browns (-18 ½) – 42
Studio Gangsters (+18 ½) – 6

Savages (2-0) vs Suicide Squad (0-0) – 1pm
Well, this is an intriguing matchup, we have what seems to be the number 1 seed so far in the 2021 season against a team that the league has not even seen play yet! Let’s start with what I know. The Savages have started off playing lights out football. They have let up 6 points in two games, very impressive but let’s not get ahead of ourselves too much, they have also played, let’s call it, the newer teams and the lesser competition thus far. Well, that trend seems to be continuing. The savages will be up against the newest team in the SAFL and we can all expect a similar outcome… Right? That is the expectation but with little known about this new team, only time will tell. I am not sure what to expect here, but I do believe the Savages will continue their winning ways. I believe their true test will come in week 5 when they face the Browns.
The IF/Then Segment:
IF Suicide Squad is a real team, they will show it on Saturday, maybe not by a win, but by keeping the game fairly close and showing the league they are a team to look out for.
IF the Savages are in fact the number 1 team in the league, then this week should be a similar outcome to what they have done the past two weeks.
Score Prediction:
Savages (-17) – 34
Suicide Squad (+17) – 20

Knights (0-2) vs AK (1-0) – 2:30pm
AK is a perennial SAFL powerhouse. They have been in the league for years, and when they are not in the finals, it feels like something isn’t quite right in the world. Well let’s see if they can make things right in the world this year, and they continue that journey by going up against a Knights team that is still trying to find their way… Well, I have news for you Knights, GPS is looking like you’re going to be lost for another week. They may be able to right the ship, but it doesn’t look like they will be righting the ship or finding their way any time soon as they face AK then CK in the next two weeks. I would just say, stay away from any teams that end with “K”! AK is coming from a tough loss against the newly renovated Browns team, but it was a super close game of the week and it just shows how good AK still is. I expect a trouncing until the Knights can prove otherwise.
Score Prediction:
AK (-19 ½) – 49
Knights (+19 ½) – 6
